Er. I don't even know why I have an LJ anymore. I never remember to post to it. I barely remember my xanga.

Anywho...... Turns out my A-Kon room won't be so expensive since we're going down Friday and leaving Sunday. It's only 350 and between the six of us, only 60 bucks a piece. Nice.

So, that's a good thing.

Next, moving out. It's confirmed, Erin, Heather, Ashii, and I are getting a place together and it has to be a house. Dad offered his renthouse, Maybe, and if that doesn't work we still have to find a house because we MUST have seperate bedrooms. Or we kill each other. Ugh.

I almost wish I could survive without my own personal space.

Er. So, no table at A-Kon because Dad's a dumbass and didn't realize that "I need the tax ID by January" meant February is too late. Ugh. Fucker. I'll get one next year, I fucking swear.

I keep forgetting to update this thing. I mean, I have my xanga account. Actually, I can't remember why I have a livejournal in the first place. Ugh. At least it's pretty, I guess.

Anywho....Well, it's November so I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving. Joey's gonna come meet the family, so here's hoping it goes well. So far, he's met my Uncle Allen and he's the creepiest member of my family. It went okay, so I'm confident enough. Joey's a little nervous of course but ah well.

My art is total suckage lately. I keep drawing dumb, unimportant things. Well, other than my Burning Soul sketches. Those have a purpose, at least. Anyway, so, I haven't been doing anything worth while. I keep writing on stories instead of drawing and I need to get a big bulk of work ready to sell at A-Kon this year. I've got my ticket paid for and I'm on the list for a table to sell at, though I don't know if I'll get it. They give preference to artists who have sold the year before so there may be no room. I'm still on the list though.

I'm also worried about getting enough money for the trip. It cost me about $800 last year.

This is how my expenses broke down last time:
Room for 4 nights, 3 days - $700
2 tanks of gas - $80
Food - $100

Now, I had roommates and they gave me between $80-$100 each to lighten the load of the room. I used that money for buying stuff. This year, I plan to split the room cost evenly between us all so that it's not so much of a burden. All of my roommates are out of highschool now and fully capable of holding down parttime jobs to earn their keep, so I don't feel as guilty about asking for money. If I've got three roommates, then we can split it $175 a piece. I really don't want any more than that, but I might go to 4 roommates for $140 a piece.

Now, I'm looking into getting a good printer to do my own prints and maybe a laminator. It'll be a big one time expense with supplies to keep up with, but it may be worth it. I'm still thinking. It may be that I ask all my relatives to just give me money for Christmas so I can buy them as a present from the whole family. I'm still researching the best type to get of both, but I'm leaning towards an inkjet. Then I have to figure out a way to keep my family from using it. Ink's fucking expensive, after all, and this is basically a professionally needed device.

I don't know how expensive laminator supplies are. I read that most people see it as a nice touch to laminate and it will protect the artwork well. I want to make a good impression, but I know I won't sell very well as a newcoming artist. I'm planning out ways I might be able to improve sales. I think I'm gonna go ahead and do the "draw on my table cloth" thing since it at least gives me something to do while waiting and it attracted a lot of people the first time I did at MiniCon. Erin and I are also beading jewelry to sell in addition to artwork. I'm designing bookmarks and a few cute keychain things, but I dunno how well it'll go. I'm also designing a free bookmark that will have my deviantart account and website info on it as an incentive for people to check me out. I remember from last A-Kon that a lot of artists did that and I ended up looking them up online later on.

Still, I have another concern with this. I've got to get a sales ID for Texas to sell there and I haven't a clue who to talk to. I was thinking of calling up the IRS for at least some idea of who to talk to in my area. I thought about the tag agency or somewhere but I really have no clue. I could maybe call a friend who sold there last year and ask her, but I don't want to bother her. Still, it needs to be done and done quickly so I'm ready with the number when the final roll call for tables happens. If I don't have the ID, I'm tossed from the list.

Ugh. Too many worries. I still need to redesign my site. The design is stale and mostly nonexistant. I kind of half-assed the whole thing. But, I'm gonna get it done. I still have to get Nimmy's dress design finished too, but dear gods, it's so hard to match colors without making it ugly!! UGH!!!

...Done now.

Whoooo's going to A-Kon? *I AM*!!!

Woot, A-Kon!

Well, J-kun's definately going with me, Fluffy can't go, Ashii and Meio are still on for rooming with me, and Erin's on the fence with Tosha.

So...I'll either be paying 400 for my room or 2-300. Eh...I can deal either way. Much rather have extra food money though...

I've decided my maximum budget is 800. So, minuse 100 gas cost, max 400 room cost, I've got 300 for food and goodies. Eh, it's not much, but one hopes it's enough. I may up it to 1000. I'll be working all summer to earn back the money anyway.

....Poppy said he might help me get a KILT! YAAAAY!! ...But since a real kilt is about 500 bucks, I may go for a utilikilt, which is quite a bit less... I'll be getting the Oklahoma tarten in blue and green. ^^ The Tulsa tarten reminds me too much of Catholic school..

Well...So I figured there was nothing else I had to post up here....

Say hi to the Monkey!!

Physical
Monkey is a ring tailed lemur and quite self satisfied, even though he looks like he’s been thrown into a blender a couple times. Patches of fur are missing and his right forelimb has been injured badly enough in the past to create a significant weakness to it. He keeps it held close to his body. His originally two foot long tail is missing a few inches at the end from some fight he undoubtedly started, but he’s still quite proud of it and holds it up high. The little guy looks rather emaciated, though he has a fondness for stuffing his face when he gets the chance, so he often has a fat belly under visible ribs. Color wise, Monkey is mostly gray with a white under belly. His tail is white with black rings. His face exhibits black splotches on his muzzle and eyes. His eyes themselves are large, expressive, and a striking yellow-brown color. The only other distinguishing mark is an odd scar on the palm of his good hand.

Personality
First and foremost, Monkey is a disagreeable little cuss. He’s loud, obnoxious, and just plain stubborn about whatever he chooses to be at the moment. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly and would much rather ignore just about anyone who isn’t feeding him. When he’s unhappy, he damn well makes sure everyone else knows it with loud shrieking, running around wildly, and jumping on the nearest person to yell in their face, if he hasn’t bitten them first. He’s NOT nice and doesn’t even try to be. Picking a fight is not uncommon, especially with an enemy that seems destined to defeat him.

Monkey is quite intelligent, though he hides it under loads of disgruntle behavior. He’s probably smarter than most people you’d come across. Not that he cares what anyone thinks of him. Humans, he’s decided, are the oddest, most infuriating things on the planet, but he hangs out with them because they tend to keep him well fed. He very much enjoys being fed. Most people, Monkey ignores for lack of interest. The captain he treats with open distain, as he believes he is the true source of ANY of the captain’s ideas, though he makes himself less of a disgruntled nuisance for the man through simple courtesy. He’d much rather hang around the Juju lady, sitting perched on her shoulder while she amuses him. She’s probably the only one to have heard him purr.

As most arboreal creatures, Monkey is happiest high up in the air. As there are no trees around at sea, he amuses himself by climbing along the sails and rigging and doing dizzying acrobatic feats through them. When he isn’t up so high, he comforts himself by sitting on people’s shoulders or their heads, or hats for that matter. Whether his fluffy and long tail annoys them or not is none of his concern. He reacts quickly and brutally to any slight to himself.

Background
Monkey started his life as all his kin in Madagascar. He was quite young when he was trapped by a hunter and imported to Europe to be sold as an exotic specimen. Fortunately, the little lemur was picked up by a scholarly fellow who wanted a companion. Monkey liked him well enough, so much that he generally wasn’t a little bastard to the guy, though no one else earned such a right. Monkey and the scholar were happy together. It was through the scholar that Monkey learned about humans and their behavior, listening and learning to understand his words. Monkey eventually grew to understand full conversations and think his own thoughts about them.

Through their travels, Monkey grew more bastardly and aggressive towards everyone but the scholar. He attacked whatever he pleased and gained the scars to prove it, but he was happy enough and quite proud of himself. The scholar was more exasperated and told him so. One day, a ship he and the scholar sailed on was attacked on route and the crew killed as their cargo was plundered. The scholar was killed as well and Monkey found himself thrown into a life without the good man. He was quite bitter about it and made his displeasure known by mistreating anyone unfortunate enough to gain his attention. He continued to do so ever after, no matter what ship he was pawned onto. It’s amazing he’s lived so long.
